Damn, this take me back to ‘02 and ‘03 - for fucking real. I remember going to shows to see a DJ, and, you know, they’d actually DJ. I’ve written at length about this, but the dubstep and DnB guys were totally responsible for killing DJ’ing. (Mostly the dubstep guys.)
I’ll still respect a guy getting out there with Rane/Serato Scratch and control vinyls though. DJ AM did it, and he was a fucking boss.
I remember when I thought CDJ was cheating with auto bpm. I guess hitting play on a prerecorded playlist makes you talented now.
